Security forces in Manipur arrested three individuals alleged to be involved in drug smuggling, militant activities and extortion during operations across the districts of Imphal East, Imphal West and Bishnupur. The operations also resulted in the seizure of suspected narcotics and a vehicle. Manipur Police reported on Thursday that these arrests and seizures occurred over the past three days.

Manipur deputy chief minister inaugurates new tribal market in Ukhrul

Tripura cabinet approves recruitment to 1,267 posts and new university roles
The Tripura state Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Manik Saha, approved recruitment to 1,267 posts across various departments on Thursday. The Cabinet also sanctioned the creation of 200 assistant professor posts, according to Transport Minister and Cabinet spokesperson Sushanta Chowdhury.
Speaking to the media at the Civil Secretariat following the meeting, Chowdhury confirmed the Cabinet’s approval of these proposals. Additionally, the Cabinet cleared the proposal related to Sri Sri University.

Eight arrested in Guwahati over attack on police personnel
Eight individuals have been apprehended by Assam Police in connection with an investigation concerning an alleged attack on police personnel in Guwahati. The case was registered at Hatigaon Police Station as Case No. 172/2026 under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
The arrested persons are Akhtar Hussain, 28; Nur Jamal Miya, 36; Manuwar Ali, 26; Imadul Choudhury, 23; and Mirjan Ali among others.
